Westminster Church has called the Rev. Kevin Chiarot to be our new Senior Pastor. Originally from the Hudson Valley area, Rev. Chiarot was ministering in Tennessee and is now in Rock Tavern in response to God's call.
Rev. Chiarot began ministering in the Rock Tavern church on January 19, 2014, and was formally installed on January 26, 2014 as Senior Pastor.
Rev. Kevin Chiarot was the pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Jackson, Tennessee, where he had served since 2006. Covenant was a small church plant which has seen substantial growth in numbers and in quality under his ministry. Prior to his service at Covenant, Rev. Chiarot was ordained by the Presbytery of New York State in 2004. He was the assistant pastor here at Westminster from 2004 to 2006 serving alongside Pastors Vance and Diedrich. Before entering full-time ministry in the PCA, he had a twenty-five year career at IBM where he served in numerous leadership and project management roles.
Pastor Chiarot, his wife of thirty years, Cheryl, and his six children, began attending Westminster in 1991. With the exception of six years in Texas (1993-1999), they were members until 2006, at which time he took the call in Jackson, Tennessee. Rev. Chiarot considers himself a son of Westminster Church whose fundamental approach to the pastoral ministry has been profoundly shaped by Pastor Vance. Before his ordination to the gospel ministry in 2004, Pastor Chiarot served as a ruling elder in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Texas (1996-1999) and, later, at Westminster from 2001 to 2004.
Rev. Chiarot has been involved in all aspects of the church’s life and the gospel ministry including mercy ministry, campus ministry, an inner city church plant, discipleship, leadership training, preaching and teaching, as well as service on various presbytery committees. He was a founding member and the first Chairman of the Board for the New Paltz Crisis Pregnancy Support Center. He has lectured at King’s College and Union University.
Rev. Chiarot has a B.S. in Engineering from Villanova University, an M.A. in Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) in Systematic Theology. He is the author of Shepherding the Wind: Sermons in Ecclesiastes, and a forthcoming work on the humanity of Christ.
