Westminster Leadership

The Reverend Kevin Chiarot, Senior Pastor, was installed in January 2014. He was an Assistant Pastor at Westminster from 2004-2006. Rev. Chiarot has a B.S. in Engineering from Villanova University, an M.A. in Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen in Systematic Theology. He is the author of Shepherding the Wind: Sermons in Ecclesiastes, and The Unassumed Is the Unhealed: The Humanity of Christ in the Theology of T.F. Torrance. He and his wife, Cheryl, have six children and four grandchildren.

 

The Reverend Mark Diedrich, assistant pastor, was installed in 2005. Born and raised in New York State, he directed a Christian retreat center, and pastored a church in central Illinois prior to coming here. He has a Pastoral Diploma from Moody Bible Institute; and M. Div. and Th. M. degrees from Princeton Seminary. Pastor Diedrich and his wife Karen have four children - Jeremiah, Hannah, Rachel, and Leah.

 

Robert David and Sarah, his wife, have four children. They began attending Westminster in 2006. Robert has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University (now NYU Tandon School of Engineering) and an M.B.A. in Finance and Investment from Baruch College. He is a manager at Orange and Rockland Utilities. He resides with his family in Washingtonville, NY.

 

Dan Elmendorf lives in the Hudson Valley with his wife Deb, and they have four married children. Dan and Deb serve at Redeemer Broadcasting and help with the airing of The Westminster Worship Hour and posting of sermons to our website.

 

Neil Fick, a retired analytical research chemist and veteran of WWII, has been a member of Westminster Church since 1984. Before coming to Westminster he served another church in the Hudson Valley for 31 years as deacon, organist/choir director and Sunday school teacher. He was ordained an elder in 1986 and was granted elder emeritus status in 1996. He has four children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Neil has been an organist for over 60 years. He was appointed organist at Westminster in 1986 and continues to serve in that capacity.

 

Bob Maucher and his wife, JoAnn, came to Westminster in 2000. They’ve lived in Pleasant Valley since 1982 and have three adult children living in Pennsylvania, and North and South Carolina. Bob was ordained as an Elder in 1982. Besides having taught Sunday school and serving as Session liaison to various committees at Westminster, he’s also a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Pleasant Valley and retired from IBM.

 

James Phillips has been a member at Westminster and resident of Newburgh since 1998. He and his wife, Carol, have three teenage sons who were raised in the church. "Everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins" (from Acts 10:43) has been a key verse for him since he and Carol sang it with neighborhood and church children when they directed Vacation Bible School. James is a professor of English as a new language (ESL) at SUNY New Paltz. He has also taught Sunday school and led youth group.

 

Robert Van Gent has been associated with the PCA since 1991, becoming a member of Westminster in 2004. He and his wife Wilma have two adult children and 13 grands. Our verse is from Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." Robert has been an elder since 2011 after serving many years as deacon. Robert and Wilma reside in Florida, NY.
